Republican Nominee For Governor Refused To Answer Questions Outside Event By Lesley Tanner, CBS Atlanta Reporter For three days, CBS Atlanta has tried to ask Republican candidate for governor Nathan Deal why he won't release his full tax returns. His campaign has said for weeks it would invade the privacy of his business partner, but won't answer questions about how, or allow us to speak to his partner about if and why he doesn't want the tax forms released. Deal did briefly respond to allegations that he violated ethics rules by using his public position as a congressman to help his private business. Deal was previously investigated for alleged ethics violations because of an agreement between his Hall County salvage business and the state to inspect vehicles. The new allegations are that his chief of staff used public e-mail accounts, while he was in office, to push for improvements on a road that runs near the salvage business. "We have constituents that expect us to assist them in a variety of things," said Deal. "This was constituent services plain and simple." But Deal wouldn't specify which constituents had asked for assistance. "I have answered everybody's questions," said Deal. "You start asking my opponent about his business dealings and maybe we'll talk, but I have answered your questions and I am not going to discuss it here."
